End-to-End Synchronization in Packet Switched Networks
نویسندگان
چکیده
The provision of real time services through a Packet Switched Network, requires the adoption of end-toend synchronization methods. Several of these methods, are compared and a specific hardware solution is discussed. Results obtained through a specially designed Simulation Programme are included, for several network time delay jitter distributions and synchronization methods. These results are used to evaluate systems and design parameters.

On Using Digital Speech Processing Techniques for Synchronization in Heterogeneous Teleconferencing
As the popularity of multi-functional communication devices grows, traditional audio conferencing now may involve heterogeneous teleconferencing devices, including POTS phone, VoIP phones, dualmode smart phones, and so on. During a multi-party audio conference involving heterogeneous devices, it is possible that a video conference is held concurrently involving a subset of devices capable of pr...
متن کاملTime Keeping in Myriad Networks : Theories , Solutions and Applications
Distributed sensor networks make extensive use of a common time reference. In this work we address the problem of time dissemination in a packet switched network when the nodes are NOT generally all connected to an accurate, external time reference source. We thoroughly analyze Network Time Protocol version 3 and identify its oversimplified clock modeling and its neglect of network delay varian...
متن کاملStream or Block Cipher for Securing VoIP?
When the network is homogeneous, choosing the cipher type for a packet telephony application is simple. It is clear that stream ciphers perform better than block ciphers over landline, circuit-switched networks, since loss is negligible in these networks but corruption is not. Likewise, it is also clear that block ciphers perform better than stream ciphers over landline, packet-switched network...
متن کاملThe Feedback Based Mechanism for Video Streaming Over Multipath Ad Hoc Networks
Ad hoc networks are multi-hop wireless networks without a pre-installed infrastructure. Such networks are widely used in military applications and in emergency situations as they permit the establishment of a communication network at very short notice with a very low cost. Video is very sensitive for packet loss and wireless ad-hoc networks are error prone due to node mobility and weak links. H...
متن کاملAdaptive, Best-Effort Delivery of Digital Audio and Video Across Packet-Switched Networks
We present an overview of a " best-effort " transport protocol that supports conferencing with digital audio and video across interconnected packet switched networks. The protocol delivers the highest quality conference service possible given the current load in the network. Quality is defined in terms of synchronization between audio and video, the number of frames played out of order, and the...
